Photography is a personal reflection on the world. The only thing that matters is the image that is in your mind when you take the shot. Ignore any criticism or distractions that take you away from your vision. You are not trying to a take a photograph, you are trying to create the image that existed in your mind when you pressed the shutter. That image may not exist directly in the image in your camera. The difference between the image recorded by your camera, either digitally or on film, is the basis for your work. The final image is the combination of the craft of recording the image, the technique of developing the image, and the ultimate act of presenting the image for the wider world. This is no different for film or digital images. Don't let anyone tell you differently, if the result is what you wanted to achieve in the final image. Recording the image on film, or as a digital recording, is merely the first step in developing the image as you want it to be. Do what ever you want to the image, digitally or in the darkroom, to realise what was in your minds-eye at the time you pressed the shutter. Ignore anyone that criticises you for the result. All that matters is the image - Your vision. All that matters is the image that was in your mind at that express moment and then transcribing that to the final image. All else is irrelevant.
