A 200mm capture in the night. With the Eieffel Tower about 1/2 mile behind me, its 10-minute twinkling period at 11:50pm reflects in a window on the 5th floor across the street. The Eiffel Tower was lit with blue light, and twinkled with white lights for 10 minute prior to each evening hour.

In a row of about 8 5th floor windows, this was the only one that had such a reflection! There is no manipulation here; this is the actual reflection.

With this image we bid "au revoir" to Paris, and drive the next day to Margaux, Bordeaux for a visit to the wine country.

A channel that bisects the city , connecting the lower to the upper lake. Important example of medieval Mantua , Rio is an artificial channel that the City made free by Alberto Pitentino in 1190 . To complete this work, which should regulate the waters of lakes with jump altitude, were drained and reclaimed the marshes between the Civitas Civitas Vetus and Nova. Thus the new channel became a veritable rivers flowing through the city and was very much used by merchants and craftsmen .

The view from the Ponte dei sospiri - Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells. In reality, the days of inquisitions and summary executions were over by the time the bridge was built and the cells under the palace roof were occupied mostly by small-time criminals. Also, they could barely see any view from inside the Bridge due to the stone grills covering the windows.

The Mole Antonelliana is a major landmark of the Italian city of Turin. It is named for the architect who built it, Alessandro Antonelli. Construction began in 1863 and was completed 26 years later, after the architect's death. Today it houses the National Museum of Cinema, and it is believed to be the tallest museum in the world.

Centuries later, in the 1800s, Janiculum Hill was the site of a memorable battle. In 1849, Giuseppe Garibaldi fought against French troops attacking Rome. Even though the French well outnumbered Garibaldi's troops, they were able to resist the French for several weeks. This event prompted the building of several monuments on the hill that pay homage to Garibaldi and his comrades.

The Janiculum is one of the best locations in Rome for a breathtaking view of the innumerable domes and bell towers that pierce the skyline of the multi-hued architectural museum.
