While helping my best friend empty a few things out of her foreclosed home, I noticed this teddy hanging on her grandkid's play set by the neck and it seemed to say it all. My friend had lost her husband to cancer and had moved in with me due to a lack of jobs. She had let her daughter and 3 grandkids move in to try and make payments and use it as a starter home. But with no jobs available in our town, she couldn't make it on her own and the day had come all their things had to be removed. The oldest granddaughter of 9 hung her teddy as quiet expression of distress with having to leave their home and move into a small apartment with the mother’s friend. My heart sank as I saw this symbol of another broken home and dream. Times are as hard in this area as it is in many areas of our country, and so many children are feeling the pain.

I have named this photo "Left Behind"

Morro Rock is most striking in the early morning as it captures and radiates the first rays of the rising sun. The glow last for only a few minutes...

"Morro Rock State Historic Landmark was formed about 23 million years ago from the plugs of long-extinct volcanoes. Member of the “Nine Sisters” of volcanic plugs. Home of nesting Peregrine Falcons. Closed to any climbing or disturbance.Morro Rock was an important navigational aid for mariners for over 300 years as it height of 576 feet made it the most visible in a chain of nine peaks. Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo named the rock “El Morro” in 1542. In Spanish "Morro" means crown shaped hill.

Morro Rock, sometimes called the “Gibraltor of the Pacific,” is the last peak which extends from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay.

The rock itself was mined on and off until 1963. Morro Rock provided material for the break water of Morro Bay and Port San Luis Harbor. In 1966 a bill was introduced which transferred the full title to the State of California. Later the San Luis Obispo County Historical Society and the City of Morro Bay succeeded in getting the Morro Rock declared as California Registered Historical Landmark #821. Morro Rock also became State Landmark #801 in 1968. The rock has since been designated a bird sanctuary for the Peregrine Falcon and other bird species."

Yoshiko Okui, who is the aunt of my daughter-in-law, lives in Osaka and was our gracious host for much of our trip to Japan.

When we went to visit Hiroshima we were completely surprised to find out that she is an atomic bomb survivor! She was just an infant at the time of the bombing, and lived only 1.5 kilometers from ground zero.

Visiting the Peace Park in Hiroshima was going to be a pretty emotional event, but when we found out about her story, it really went over the top!

I was down at beach level trying to get some shots when I noticed the rain sweeping in. I made for shelter from the wind and rain, but as I looked back I spotted this. With the little G10 having "P" selected it was just a matter of point, compose and click. I was shooting RAW as always so just a few adjustments were mad in Elements to produce this image.

I am now slowly recovering from a really awful cold ('flu?)which has lead to several days in bed so hopefully I'll be commenting more (Excuses, excuses!).

My trip to Skye was very wet! But bad weather does offer some wonderful scenes, if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time.

This rainbow was so transient due to the high wind but I just got lucky as my camera was in my hand.

The rainbow is in front of a hidden Cuillin mountains and is framing the little peak of Sgurr na Stri, seen from the parking lot at Elgol on the Isle of Skye.

The French people were always very attentive to Ro's situation and needs. In this case, while we were visiting Mona Lisa in the Louvre, the attendant guard noticed Ro in her chair and came over, on his own initiative and without a word being spoken, opened up the guard ropes, and motioned Ro inside, by herself, for her own private audience with Mona. We were very impressed! One of my favorite shots in all of our trip to France two summers ago.

In our new way of life, Betty and I must be daily in the hospital due of the different tests that doctors are doing to Betty for her future chemotherapies,radiotherapies, etc. treatments, we see things very nice, as well as other very sad, like this poor old man that was yesterday in the hospital just waiting to die because his cancer had reached a terminal level and the doctors gave him max one hour of life :(
PS: I have to made lot of effects and works with this pics from the hospital, because I have to take it with hidden camera with out flash always.
This pic was taken with a compact Fuji camera (really bad in low light) 1/80Seg. F3.5,ISO1600,available light, hand held behind my knees :))

Just back from another visit to Zillertal, it was like going home! And I had reasonable weather! I am only back here for a short while before my next set of travels but I thought that I would drop in and say hello to all my friends here.

Here is yet another image of my favourite mountain, the Ahornspitze. Evening light is so magical and I can never resist this view.

She is a very strong, almost heroic and we both know that this will be an anecdote in our lives because we have great trust
in the positive energies power of the universe, God and doctors:))

yesterday morning I was able to speak with the Dr and she told us the biopsy which was done by freezing which is instantaneous and infallible has come out positive for cancer and also positive were some of the adjoining glands which had been marked with a type of blue reactive substance that shows the problem areas.
The Dr had to take out all of the glands in the right arm and the tumor, but the breast is still intact, as she took everything out by the underarm.
Incredibly Betty does not feel any pain and as of tomorrow she must start exercising her arm so that she doesn’t lose movement in the future.
Now we have to wait 15 days for the pathology report on the tumor to tell us how aggressive the cancer is and what kind of treatment will be needed and if there is any other part of the body that might have been affected from being in contact with the tumor.
She explained to us that the cancer is at a level 2 aprox and it is probable that she will have to have a strong treatment of chemotherapy, radiation and maybe hormonal treatment. This we will find out for sure in about 15 days when the report comes back.
The good thing is , from her experience, she says it is recoverable. I hope it is so.
Betty and I are very grateful with all of you for your great wishes and continuous wonderful energies support, you are the best!!

It's tragically comical how many times the specialized institutions request us for donations (only a few cents) for investigate more against cancer and how we walk in front them like blinds and we don't give any coin.
We have to remember that Cancer is an enemy that don't make differences with race, creed or economic level. We all can be it victims.
And now I know it very well.
So please the next time that some institution request for some coins for investigate against any disease please give some help and remember that any of us are untouchables.

Sitting outside Mo's Cafe watching the daylight fade while supping a glass of wine in the company of great friends. What more could a guy ask for (other than some new bones lol!).

The Ahornspitze always seem to catch the Alpenglow, Rich and Bengt (a Finnish friend), enjoyed this, they had been on that summit earlier in the day!

Yes, back from Zillertal for a short period. I thought that I would post this to let you know that I am still alive and kicking.

Please, no points for this one, obviously I didn't take it as it shows me struggling up the final climb to Alpengasthof Wiesenhof, a place I had thought that I would never see again. Two lovely young ladies agreed to accompany me to see if I was still capable of climbing the 1600ft and walking the 7 miles involved. With their encouragement I did it! I was on "Cloud 9" by the time I arrived.

The shot was taken by Jane while Tracey, a really fit runner, waited for me to catch up.

It is incredible but took this pic is too much difficult than take a blowing up water balloon, for take only this pic I have to break 6 bricks and for the blowing up balloons I shut only one pic for each!!
and it comes out well at the first attempt!

This time I made this pic the same way of my previous post, but with the difference that this one was with a shot of an air carbine, I try to made with 2 balloons and it works perfect but incredible the carbine don't have enough potency to blow up the two balloons!!

This is a standard party balloon full of water, that my wife hang with one hand in front a black fabric and my sister at the count of 3 puncture with a needle.
Incredibly this we made this pic at the first attempt, in single shot, not burst, at night using my little flash Canon TTL speedlite 220 EX that works like a Giant.
