This gentleman sell his medicine made from aloe, you can see how the mucus of aloe hang on the glass after scrape it with a knife.
This mucus is mixed with other herbs and according to said in his little white wagon it is a great medicine for the kidneys, liver, gastritis, peptic ulcer, bronchitis, diabetes, prostate and cholesterol.

MY OLD VW OVERHAULING

Over one month ago I decided to paint my old 1971 German VW , then I realized I had to do too much work in the body, such as fixing doors etc.
This photo was taken the day I decided to do otherwise.
Now we are doing a complete overhauling, separating the body of the chassis, removing the windows, floors, putting entirely new chassis parts, etc.
Then it will be painted by one of the best painters of my city with urethane paint in a large oven.
I hope it will be ready in a month and also I will have the money to get it out of the workshop, hahahaha!
PS: this kind of workshops that looks very poor is the most comon workshops here but I asure that they can make magic!!
I will put a pic when my car will be finish :)

After I finished printing my stack of Cedar Key and WaterWomen photos onto 11×14 inch Strathmore Drawing medium, Alexandria went to work and edited the images for me. I had completely lost my sense of organization for the photos. So, it was fantastic to have her take over, and bring order to the chaos. She ended up with four volumes of images from my portfolios. This is volume 1. Now, there will undoubtedly be changes and revision, additions and subtractions, as we work on this together.

In the meantime, please take a look at it and let me know what you think!

Few month ago we had an armed confrontation between police and natives of different ethnic groups in a village called Bagua. the police were on the ground and armed helicóperos, the natives was armed with spears and arrows, but incredibly shot down the helicopter, took up the gund of arms the police and broke a bloody battle that unfortunately resulted in several deaths among natives and police.
Yesterday, while I was taking some pictures in the city of Lima,at many kilometers of the jungle I saw this graffiti of the jungle where it says; RESISTANCE BAGUA present!!!

This is an uncommom sight, at least for me, to see acres of Opuntia ("Prickly pear cactus). Obviously being grown for the delicious "cactus figs". :o)

"Prickly pear cacti typically grow with flat, rounded platyclades that are armed with two kinds of spines; large, smooth, fixed spines and small, hairlike spines called glochids, that easily penetrate skin and detach from the plant. Many types of prickly pears grow into dense, tangled structures.
Like all true cactus species, prickly pears are native only to the Western hemisphere; however, they have been introduced to other parts of the globe. Prickly pear species are found in abundance in Mexico, especially in the central and western regions. They are also found in the Western United States, from arid regions in the Northwest, throughout the mid and lower elevations of the Rocky Mountains, and especially in the Southwest. Prickly pears are also the only types of cactus natively found to grow far east of the Great Plains states, as far northeast as Long Island, where it can be found in Northport.

FOOD:
The fruit of prickly pears, commonly called cactus figs, Indian[3] fig or tuna,[4] is edible, although it has to be peeled carefully to remove the small spines on the outer skin before consumption. If the outer layer is not properly removed, glochids can be ingested, causing discomfort of the throat, lips, and tongue, as the small spines are easily lodged in the skin. Documentary about "Sindone"

Today a documentary about "Sindone".

"Sindon" is the word used in the Gospel of Mark[15:46] to describe the type of the burial cloth of Jesus.

The first biggest photo on the left is the only photo of the Sindone (Shroud) I took (it was forbidden to photograph but...) in the exposition at Cathedral of Turin, April 24 of this year. Image of Sindone, in this photo, is very closed to my real vision of Sindone as I saw it. I cutted it a little and made very little adjustments in this photo (as a stolen photo, absolutely no time for composition, and absolut faith to automatism).
Then I tried to remove perspective, cut the only Sindone, make it vertical and play with contrast and luminosity: you may see results in the second image.
I made the negative of the second image: you may see result in the third image.
I played with contrast and luminosity on the third image: you may see result in the fourth image.

As with all relics of this kind, the Roman Catholic Church made no official pronouncements claiming whether it is Jesus' burial shroud, or if it is a forgery.

What can I say? Surely Sindone is, in someway, a photographic negative...

Nearing the end of my walk over the Yewdale col, I started my descent into Tilberthwaite. This is a lovely little secluded valley where farming is the main occupation. Only a few years ago it was a hive of industry with lots of slate quarries. Now the quarries are deserted apart from hard rock climbers who use them as a Klettergarten!

I had a major disappointment here, on my last trip the farmhouse at the foot of Tilberthwaite Ghyll provided tea and cakes for the weary fell walker. Alas, that no longer applies so I had to revert to my old diet of KitKat and mineral water!

The scar bottom right of the image is the bed of the ghyll, eroded massively by the Lakeland floods of last Autumn. On this occasion I was easily able to ford the ghyll at the top of the gorge.

Another image from my trip to Lakeland. I went for a walk along the shores of Coniston Water, I usually dash by the "flesh pots" of the pier heads but I had to stop and grab this shot.

It was the only time I saw still water while I was up there, a cold wind prevailed for the whole of my stay.

The mixing room was multi-purpose, with a workbench for repairs, a mixing vat for pesticides, and pump controls. A water tank stands outside this shed and remnants of a windmill remain, reminders of when this was once a thriving nursery with forty greenhouses some as long as a football field that grew roses, carnations, and other flowers. Even today, after nearly a decade of abandonment, roses still flourish, though with an aphid or two taking nourishment.

The name Pyramid of the Sun comes from the Aztecs, who visited the city of Teotihuacán centuries after it was abandoned; the name given to the pyramid by the Teotihuacanos is unknown. It was constructed in two phases. The first construction stage, around 100 C.E, brought the pyramid to nearly the size it is today. The second round of construction resulted in its completed size of 357 feet (225 meters) across and 246 feet (75 meters) high, making it the third largest pyramid in the world behind the Great Pyramid of Cholula and the Great Pyramid of Giza. The second phase also saw the construction of an altar atop of the pyramid, which has not survived into modern times. The Adosada platform was added to the pyramid in the early third century, at around the same time that the Ciudadela and Temple of the Feathered Serpent, Teotihuacan Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent were constructed.

Over the structure the ancient Teotihuacanos finished their pyramid with lime plaster imported from surrounding areas, on which they painted brilliantly colored murals. While the pyramid has endured for centuries, the paint and plaster have not and are no longer visible. Few images are thought to have been included in the mural decorations on the sides of the pyramid. Jaguar heads and paws, stars, and snake rattles are among the few images associated with the pyramids.

Yesterday I went to a little town in the Andes near Lima at 2500 of the sea level looking for partridges to hunt with my hawk "Deja vu" for first time, but the weather was very bad and was about to start a storm.
These small towns have their roads made of dust next to the mountains and a storm can block it for days due to landslides, so I chose to return to Lima.
PS: This is the village of "Antióquia" at 2 hours from Lima and is fully painted with artistic motifs in a very beautiful stile.

Lately I'm not commenting your wonderful works and posting mines because I've been trying to relax completely surrendering to the task of taming my new Harris Hawk "Deja Vu".
As you know, I've been through difficult times with Betty's illness (now I have to take her to her daily radiotherapy sessions that last more than a month, every day at 45 minute drive from my house).
Also it was the turn accounts Teresita school that has more than a kindergarten seems to go to a university. (all very expensive).
That has left me very stressed and I decided to take a semi vacation , so, after take Betty to her Radiotherapy, I leave at home (she can not receive sunlight) and I go to the field all day with "Deja vu", to our small breeder birds of prey center.
I'm almost up there with the night in the peaceful countryside, deja vu by training and I feeding more than 70 different types of birds of prey that we have playing and training for the pest control work.
In fact this work is of my oldest nephew, but now he is in the Andes (Puno) directing the work of control of birds and hares at the airport. As I am helping take care of farm birds until he returns.
This relaxed me a lot, but I've stopped commenting on your photos and put some mine.
Exactly on that field I found this very rare scene.
A Bicolored Hawk (Accipiter bicolor) is not the area where I was found nesting in the ground, (they are from other areas and build their nests high up in the trees) this a wonderful discobvery, is something incredible and I think it is simple new to the ciencia :o) ¿Accipiter armandus alcazari???? LOL!!

On Valentine's Day the police found this poor man fainted in the middle of the sidewalk, the paramedics diagnosed that he had an epileptic episode. I was helping them to know who was the guy for to warn his family because the man did not wake up.
Suddenly appeared his dog and began to lick his face continuous for a while and the man awoke as by magic. (I could not resist taking a picture of it)
Incredibly, when we can speak with him he said that he lived about 10 blocks away, apparently his dog sensed what was happening and went for help him.
THAT IS NOT TRUE LOVE?
PS: Excuse my lack of comments but my PC video card blow up and I was without PC for 3 or 4 days :(

Today I went to a park near the BMX track to play with Teresita in a special place for children.
Few seconds after our arrive I heard the fire truck coming at full speed, I left Betty and Teresita and went to see that happening.
This guy had tried to make a dangerous leap without being protected by a helmet or anything and he fell heavily to the ground awkwardly and remained apparently in a coma.
I hope he already recover of his injuries and learned the lesson.

I thought some of you might be interested in this:

As of today I have printed some 55 proof pages for the book. Here are some samples. The page numbering is just for reference. Once the book is laid out, I am going to change them of course to correspond to their location. At first I was going to make this a Blurb Book [I have done several and like them], but I had real problems laying it out and really visualizing what things would look like. I discovered that my Epson 2400 printer worked very well with Strathmore Drawing paper, using an icc profile built by Eric Chan, for the printer and Arches Cover.

The Strathmore pages are 11×14 inches, but lose a little length when removed from the pad. Here are four random pages laid out on the rug in our living room. Three of the images were done with my 35mm SLR, the shot of the palm tree is a Holga photo.

I was talking to a friend a couple of days ago and he surprised me by emphasizing how important it is to have a shed to do "man's business". Well, I now have a shed, although I think the spiders have a greater sense of ownership than I do. The photo is of one of the many boat sheds on the shoreline here, this one reminded me of what my friend had said, especially with its less than welcoming sign - despite the lack of a door or much of a roof... I'm sure there has been a lot of S.M.B. here over the years.

This is another of our Harris Hawk (Parabuteo uniscintus) working scaring birds in a crop of a farm flying at full speed, almost touching the ground behind the branches, you can even see his right eye is closed because it collided with one branch.
Birds make lost lot of money to the farm and our birds scared it and hunt someones too.

This young couple was with the motorcycle full of newspapers.
The pilot had a lot between the legs and below the handlebars and don't guided taking the handlebar but taking the newspapers, as you can see in his left hand.
The young woman was dragging behind them a small and weak market wagon full of newspapers too!!.

Some years ago, some Lima's Mayor permit that some of this mix of motorcycles with "car", that came from India (BAJAJ TRADEMARK) can work outside Lima and in only in few districts.
Now, some years after, we are invaded of this little "MONSTERS" that go around great part of the city, (NOT IN MY DISTRICT HAPPILY)Believing themselves that they are large trucks, committing numerous violations and causing many deaths to they passengers.

You know that I'm a bit adventurous and sometimes stupid, and this time I wanted to find out for myself what one feels to be with those giant waves at the top of the rocks.
So, I wrapped my camera in plastic and duck tape and put double UV filter on the lens to secure the plastic to it.
Then I went to the rocks and waited for the giant wave that was larger than I expected and covered me completely.
I had to jump into that hole in front of me to protect me and there the wave broke over my back.
You can see that the water had reached the left side of the lens:)
PS: PLEASE DO NOT DO IT AT HOME, LOL!

I took this pic some minutes ago in a special Andean people Market who makes several rituals for clean the body and soul of their clients. This pic was very difficult to take, because it was in the interior of a little tend where is totally prohibited to look inside, so I went a little far looking for a good angle, with my 18-200 lens using some zoom without flash, by hand held and voilà!! LOL! You can see that the Chaman Lady are making some work to the other lady !WITH AN ALIVE ARMADILLO!!! Well with this pic I say goodbye to the year 2009 and hello to the 2010, I hope all goes incredible well for all of us from tomorrow :) HAPPY NEW YEAR MY PP FAMILY!!

As you travel around the back roads in the Korean countryside, or hike in the mountains, every now and then you will come upon an old tree that stands out from the others. There may be a rough stone altar at its foot, and it will always have a hand-made straw rope tied around its trunk, with colored pieces of cloth hanging from it.

This is a shaman tree, where the world of spirits and the world of mortals are able to touch each other.

Here you can see that someone has left an offering of fruit, candy and a bottle of soju (distilled rice liquor).

My pal Wally had never been to Wasdale, one of the most spectacular valleys in the Lake District - so I had to take him!

It was overcast and the roads were very icy but I just had to get my camera out and record the visit.

The white spot just below Yewbarrow fell is the home of Joss Naylor, one of the finest fell runners ever!

From this spot we drove on to the head of the valley and went into a small climbing gear shop there - and I was amazed to find a climbing book with three shots of me on vertical rock! I bought it as it is now out of print!
